Welcome Message from the Project Focal Point  

   The Ninh Hai Coral Reef Project entitled “Demonstration of Sustainable Management of Coral Reef Resources in the Coastal Waters of Ninh Hai District, Ninh Thuan Province, Vietnam “ is under the framework of the UNEP-GEF South China Sea Project. It is funded by GEF and co-funded by Vietnam’s Government.

   This project’s objective is to demontrate measures to reduce the stress on regional significant coral reef and seagrass habitats connected to the South China Sea for prevention of future ecosystem degradation and sustainable utilization of coastal resources at the site.

   The project website aims to wide disperse the project information and outputs, and to share information and lession-learns within the demonstration site network of UNEP-GEF South China Sea Project.

   Base on the implementing plan, nine selected coral reefs along Ninh Hai coastal waters, including Dam Dang, Bai Nho, Hang Rai, Lach Nuoc Ngot, Bai Thit, Mui Thi, My Hoa, Hon Chong, and Mui Do were biologically monitored during the first half of June 2012.

   A model of sand lizard culturing has launchedat Hon Chong (My Tan, Thanh Hai Commune, Ninh Hai) since May 2012 under financial and technical support of Ninh Hai Project. This is the second one after the first implemented in My Hoa, Vinh Hai Commune in 2010. Hon Chong was known as the place with high abundance of wide sand lizard in the past.
