Place: Institute of Oceanography, Nha Trang

The 4th workshop is conducted by the Institute of Oceanography from 26-28 August 2004 aims to review main scientific results achieved over 30 months of project implementation. More than 150 participants including researchers, managers and official delegates in and outside Vietnam will participate. On 28 August, participants visit Ngang Island, Binh Dinh province as a pilot area for model of coral reefs rehabilitation.

Rehabilitation of coral reefs and seagrasses has been succeeded in recent years. However, conservation of these ecosystems plays more vital role to meet the project objectives. 

Beside scientific reviews, capability to apply and disseminate the results for socio-economic development and national defense of Vietnam is also discussed in the workshop. Final reports also scheduled.

 

Participants: 150 participants from organizations of Vietnamese Academy of Science and Technology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Institute of Oceanography, Hanoi University of Natural Science, National University of HCM city, Center of Biological Technology, Institute of Environmental Technology, Khanh Hoa Association of Marine Science and Technology, Dept. of Science and Technology, Dept. of Fishery, Representatives of Nha Trang Marine Protected Area, University of Fishery, Center of Hydrometeorology and Environment, Hai Phong Branch of Institute of Oceanography, Nong Lam University, Center of Aquaculture Research III, Institute of Ecology and Living Resource.
