The Training Course on "Lagrangian Coherent Structures and their application to ocean surface transport"

The Training course was held at Institute of Oceanography, Viet Nam from 26 – 30, November 2012.

Participating in teaching were Assoc. Prof. Peacock and his teaching assistant Michael Allshouse from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, United State. 15 participants came from University of Natural Sciences, National University in Ho Chi Minh City (7 paricipants), Sub - Intitute of Hydro-Meteorology and Invironment of South Vietnam (2 participants) and Institute of Oceanography (6 participants). The training purpose is to hepl participants to approach to a new method in calculation, simulation and prediction of the element trajectory on ocean surface based on the Lagarangian coherent structures. Participants had been learnt on theoretical lessons and their simple applicable exercises. Application had been used to calculate oil spill processes from oil breakdown at Gulf of Mexico by Matlab programming.

This is a new method for application to element surface transport, pollutant surface transport, oil spill, larva surface transport, rescue and other related objects.
