Appointment Ceremony to the Vice Director of the Institute of Oceanography

   On April 8th, 2013, at the ceremony held at the Institute of Oceanography (IO), representative from the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) announced the decision to appoint Dr. Le Dinh Mau to the Vice Director of IO. Attending the ceremony were Prof. Chau Van Minh, Member of the Party's Central Committee, President of VAST, and some other representatives from VAST’s functional units. As for the Institute of Oceanography, there were IO’s leaders and representatives it’s functional units also.

   After Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Van Kiem, Director of VAST’s Department of Organization and Personnel, announced the decision No. 521/QĐ-VHL dated 26 March 2013 to appoint Dr. Le Dinh Mau to the Vice Director of the IO, Dr. Mau at his speech expressed his sincere thanks to the President of VAST, representatives from functional departments and leaders of IO for their trust and assignment, and promissed to try his effort to fulfil his task on the new position.
On behalf of VAST’s Party Committee and Directorate, Prof. Chau Van Minh congratulated Dr. Le Dinh Mau for gaining high credibility from the IO and hoped that he, together with IO’s directorate and staff, will fulfil all the tasks and make a great contribution to the IO’s development

Dr. Le Dinh Mau was born in 1958, graduated at Ha Noi University in 1990. He gained his MSc and PhD in marine science at Goa University, India in 2002 and 2006, respectively. He has been the leader of and participated in many international, national and VAST projects, as well as scientific contracts with local authorities, scientific institutions, national and international enterprices.
He has published over 20 scientific papers on national and international magazines and jounals so far, and given oceanographic lessons at Nha Trang University and University of Science in Ho Chi Minh City.

December 1990 – July 2000: Researcher, Institute of Oceanography, Nha Trang
July 2000 – May 2002: MSc student at Goa University, India
May 2005 – August 2003: Researcher, Institute of Oceanography, Nha Trang
August 2003 – July 2006: PhD student at Goa University, India
August 2006 – January 2007: Researcher, Institute of Oceanography, Nha Trang
February 2007 – January 2011: Deputy Head, Department of Marine Physics, Institute of Oceanography, Nha Trang
February 2011 – present: Head, Department of Marine Physics, Institute of Oceanography, Nha Trang.
