The First Meeting of The PSC of the Ninh Hai Coral Reef Project was held at the Hall of Nui Chua National Park in January 17th 2011. Seven member of PSC that established by IO and 16 invited visistors from local stakeholders attended the meeting.

   In the first seesion, Ass. Pro. Vo Si Tuan - the Project Focal Point presented The Project to the meeting. He recalled the project developing process within the framework of The UNEP/GEF/SCS Project and briefly introduced the Project information such as goals, objectives, components of activities, GEF Trust Fund and co-financing of Vietnam Institutions, financial management and the project implementing mechanism.

   The partcipants contributed many ideas and advices and the meeting made decisions related to the advisory group (AG) establishment, project personnel, work plan, cost norms, and of other project-related issues. In connect with that, the AG would be established and operated within Febuary 2011. The AG would consist of representatives of local and outside organizations. The meeting recognized that certain activities of the project would be at high risk of fail and decided that DSCU would consult with the AG for building possible activities and would reported to PSC at the next meeting. The cost norms of the project were also built and agreement among the participants. The Meeting discussed, rebuilt, and adopted the inventory of equipment that would be purchased by the Project’s budget. However, the quantity of equipment would be later determined based on their price and the allocated budget amount.

   The meeting decided three sub-sites, including Bai Hom-Hang Rai-Bai Thit, Binh Tien, and one that later selected, where would be simultaneously applied the such management activities as demarcation and zonation, low enforcement, coral reef resource restoration, coral reef rehabilitation, community development, sustainable livelihood.

   The meeting decided that the project office locating inside the NCNP office is the main corresponding of the project. Besides, as functions defined in TOR, the project assistants have responsibility to monitor the project activities. The meeting gained its objectives and was closed at 5PM in the same day.
