Phase II: 1998-1999Title: Status of Coral Reefs in Nha Trang Bay with special reference to impacts of human activities
Sida/SAREC/IMO/CMC/MOSTE and Institute of Oceanography
Objectives of this phase are to:
1. Provide necessary information on coral reefs situation to meet sustainable management objectives of the ecosystem in Nha Trang Bay
2. Strengthen research capacity and capability for the Institute of Oceanography in carrying out successfully scientific activities particularly in sustainable management of coral reefs in Vietnam.
3. Organize and examine water quality monitoring programs in order to promote a precaution and prevention system for water quality degradation in Nha Trang Bay
4. Take into account involved stakeholders who have responsibility in developing a sustainable management strategy of coral reefs within and around Nha Trang Bay
5. Recommend to the State with regulations and institutions etc on coral reefs conservation and management in Vietnam.
