   Monday, 7th October 2013, the first Southeast Asia Workshop in Aquatic Microbial Ecology (ASIAME 2013) is officially opened at the Institute of Oceanography, Nha Trang, Viet Nam. Assoc. Prof. Vo Si Tuan, director of the Institute of Oceanography and Dr. Jean-Pascal Toterront, representative of IRD Viet Nam have been giving the openning speeches.

   On April 8th, 2013, at the ceremony held at the Institute of Oceanography (IO), representative from the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) announced the decision to appoint Dr. Le Dinh Mau to the Vice Director of IO. Attending the ceremony were Prof. Chau Van Minh, Member of the Party's Central Committee, President of VAST, and some other representatives from VAST’s functional units. As for the Institute of Oceanography, there were IO’s leaders and representatives it’s functional units also.

   On April 8th, 2013, at the Institute of Oceanography in Nhatrang, Prof. Chau Van Minh, Member of the Party's Central Committee, President of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) had a meeting with the Vietnam IOC National Committee (IOC VN) and the Institute of Oceanography (IO) on the preparation to host the 9 th WESTPAC International Scientific Symposium in Vietnam in 2014.
